How Does God Heal?

Most men are infamous for attempting to arrive at a destination without utilizing a map or asking for directions. The same species is also famous for trying to put household items together without using directions and we always end up with extra parts, usually extremely critical parts. So it is with the utmost respect that I ask you this simple question today. "How does God heal?"

Perhaps if we understand, we can grasp the motivation and method that God usually employs in ministering Divine Healing from His heart and then we can place ourselves in a more efficient position to receive from His bounty.

Listen to what His Word (Manufacturer's Handbook) says...

Ps 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Proverbs 4: 20-22 "...my words...keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."

Matthew 4:4 "...It is written, Man does not live by bread alone, but (Man lives) by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."

2 Peter 1:2-4 "Grace and peace are multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power has given unto us everything that pertains to life and godliness...Whereby He has given to us exceeding great and precious promises (HIS WORD): that by these (HIS WORD) you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world..."


Are you getting the picture. Everything that God does, He does by His spoken Word. When Words go out of God's mouth, there is enough power in those faith breathed, God spoken words, to accomplish exactly what what He desires. For example, in Genesis 1:3 God spoke these words; "Let there be light: and there was light." There was enough power in those spoken Words that at that moment in space and time light began to proceed forth from the very spot where that Word was spoken and still continues today at the rate of 186000 miles a second, expanding the universe! Whether it was 6000 years ago or millions of years, that Word is still creating light. Science has confirmed this fact!


When Jesus spoke these Words that the Father inspired, He created an eternally existing Spiritual Law (Romans 8:1). John 3:16 "... God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes (adheres to, trusts in, clings to, and relies on) in him, would not perish but have everlasting life." Now when anyone (whosoever) believes that spiritual principle in their heart, and confesses the same with their mouth, the power and authority that God spoke into that Promise is released into our lives, and a new spiritual being is created, by that power! 2Co 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

If it is by His "precious promises" that we escape "the corruption in the world(Sickness, disease)" then we need to discover everyone of those promises; begin to consider them as precious, and feed on them until they become part of our very being. Proverbs 4 covers the complete relationship between God's Word and His Healing process.

1) In verse 20 he tells us to "attend to my words, incline thine ear unto my sayings." Our first inclination is to hear what the Doctors have to say or the report that spells certain doom. God says listen to what I have to say. The Doctors may be stating factual information, BUT GOD IS SPEAKING THE TRUTH. Truth is a higher authority than fact, just like the Law of Lift (Aerodynamics) is a higher authority than the Law of Gravity!

The Doctor says there's nothing we can do for you! God says "I am the Lord that is Healing you!" Exodus 15:26

2) In verse 21 God says do not "let them(MY WORDS) not depart from thine eyes..." Don't look at your symptoms...LOOK AT THE HEALER! As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on the water.(Matthew 14) When he began to look at the circumstances (wind & waves) that were surrounding him, he began to sink! What did those facts have to do with the truth that he was walking on the water? Would it have been any easier to walk on the water in a swimming pool? Keep your eyes fastened on what God says is truth, not on what the world says is fact. 2Co 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight..."

If your symptoms worsen, do not fear. Don't let what God has promised fade from your view. The new symptoms want to take first place in your life, and they want to be what you focus on. Keep your eyes on what God has promised in His written Word. Spend time with him and hear what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you about the condition He wishes upon His Temple! 1Corinthians 6:19 "What? Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, Who is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?"

3) Keep His Words and Promises concerning healing "...in the midst of your heart." Discover all His Promises concerning healing. Mediate on them. Break them down and ask the Holy Spirit to make them real to your heart. Jesus said in John 14:9 "...he that has seen me has seen the Father.." Get into the Gospels and listen to what Jesus said and watch Him manifest the perfect will of the Father as He "...healed them all..." Matthew 15:15 & Luke 6:19

The only time that we see Jesus (As He manifested the Father's perfect will) not healing everyone that came to Him, was in His own home town when the people's "unbelief" caused Him to be UNABLE to heal all of the sick. Mark 6: 5-6 And he could there do no mighty work, except that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching." The truth is that HE COULD NOT DO ANY MIGHTY WORKS because of their unbelief. Everywhere else it is written that he healed everyone who came to him, believing! Note His response in the face of unbelief; "...He went about the villages teaching..." in order to correct their thinking!

4) The Words and Promises of God are "...life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh." verse 22. Everyone who discovers the Truth of God's Word and responds believing will receive healing from Him! God doesn't love me more than he loves you! 1 Corinthians 6:20 For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which both belong to God..." Your body and your spirit were both purchased at Calvary! He did not pay a partial price. David knew this TRUTH. Psalm 103:2 "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits: Who forgives all my iniquities; who heals all my diseases..."

5) Proverbs 4:23 "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." God tells us to work diligently at protecting what we feed our hearts or our spirit being. If you feed it junk food or the lies of this world, than it will cause the power of God's Word to become "unfruitful." Mark 4:19 That means the power of the promise will not work in the face of doubt and unbelief. James 1:6-8 "...let him ask in faith, nothing wavering(doubting). For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."

If you want to live, you must feed your heart on the Word of God. There is power in the Word. Jeremiah 1:12 "...I will hasten (watch over) my word to perform it."

6) Stop agreeing with the negative reports. Stop repeating them. There is power in the words you speak. Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue.." Begin to speak "It is written..." and proclaim the promises of God. Proverbs 4: 24 says that we are to "Put away...a froward (distorted, false, perverse) mouth, and perverse (That which departs from the truth) lips put far from thee." Begin to speak God's Word over all of your situation and circumstances. "Jesus Himself took my infirmities and bore my diseases." Matthew 8:17 and "By His stripes I was healed!" 1 Peter 2:24.\

Listen very carefully to me right now! If you are in a fight for your life, you need to be willing to engage in the fight of your life, for your life! What is the worst case scenario? You breathe your last and end up in the presence of God, forever! You do not have to be evicted from the house you live in (Your body). If you want to go home and be with the Lord, then get healed first, give the glory to God and then Check Out and go home to be with Him!

Read the Gospels. Discover the Truth. Overcome the facts with the truth you discover. Keep your eyes on Him and His Word. Give Him the Glory. Obey Him and watch Him work in your life! God Loves you and wants you healed!

Psalm 118:17 "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD..." You are a Testimony waiting to happen!
