Reconnection!

John 1:4 “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

NLT translation states it this way… "Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone."

Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius, Dahli Lama, Hitler…the list goes on filled with names of men and women who tried their best in their own strange little ways to give meaning to, or illuminate the lives of others. They all espoused different methods of, and reasons for, the existence of mankind. Sadly they all missed out on the real issue… Disconnection from God.

Look at the people around you today that walk through life, empty, meaningless and without purpose. They are running on the treadmill of life, going nowhere fast. They pursue money, status, prestige and meaningless relationships hoping from one bed to the next, never able to find satisfaction! The Beatles had it right… “Nowhere man please listen. You don’t know what you’re missing…” The Rolling Stones also followed the teachings of some of these men listed above and the end result…”I can’t get no satisfaction!” Drugging and drinking attempting to numb their minds and emotions as they struggle to find some meaning (illumination) to life.

Many attempt to lump Jesus in with all the great philosophers, claiming that He too was a great teacher and that He did His best to illuminate the life of man. Some even suggest that He has pointed out a good path that some may wish to attempt to follow. But we’re all missing the root cause of man’s problem…OUR SINFUL NATURE. and the resulting disconnection from our Creator.

Because we have chosen a path of sin, pursuing our own evil desires, we have been disconnected from our Creator, Provider and Enabler. The Manufacturer’s Handbook states that we “can do all things through Christ who strengthens…” us. Without that connection, like an unplugged appliance, you can’t really accomplish much of anything. Here’s the huge difference between Jesus and ALL the others. “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

He did not just come to illuminate our lifestyle or to show us the way to live. He came TO IMPART THE VERY NATURE OF GOD… to RECONNECT US TO OUR LIFELINE…

“In Him was life…” The very character and nature of Almighty God is imparted to us when we receive Him as Lord and Savior. John 1:12 “as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” When that Life of God is imparted to you, You receive the “new birth” and THEN the meaning of life becomes illuminated in your life.

“…the life was the light of men.” John 1:4

Jesus knew His mission…to impart the very Life of God… John 10:10 “ I HAVE COME THAT YOU MAY HAVE LIFE (Greek: Zoe..the God kind of life)”

Peter inspired by the Holy Spirit backs up this impartation…2 Peter 1:4 “… which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world…”

If you want to know the meaning of life…or if you want to be enlightened or illuminated invite Him into your life…NOW! John 3:3 (NLT) “Jesus replied, “I assure you, unless you are born again(reconnected, receive the life and nature of God), you can never see (understand) the Kingdom of God.”

When you are reconnected, you begin to see (understand) the things concerning the Nature and Character of God. You begin to see His plan for your life; your immeasurable worth to Him; His plan for your life; His principles which govern life on this earth, and His unfathomable love! Life becomes so very clear; your purpose, meaning, giftings and assigned tasks are uncovered.

NO ONE ELSE MAKES THAT OFFER! He is extremely different and extremely effective!

Like the old song the Hokey Pokey ends…”That’s what it’s all about!”

There is Purpose in Him!
