Hummingbird

Most of you have read my Robin and Cardinal stories in recent posts…well here’s a new one…the HUMMING BIRD! Debbie and I were sitting on our deck Friday evening and a Hummingbird was streaking down the neighborhood. He was flying from our right side to the left and when he got in front of us…He stopped and turned his entire body to look at us. Debbie thought he was after her newly painted red toenails but he gently pressed his little beak together, pursed his lips and began to hum…”Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound…” he was a HUMMINGBIRD!

OK, so I might be exaggerating this one a little. At least, he did turn toward us and took a good look before he took off and it might have been me who started humming. Hum with me now.. "Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound..." get down with me...HUM IT OUT LOUD!

Am I Crazy?

Okay….some people already think I’m a tad crazy, however, I’d like to add to that belief by sharing more with you on the “Robin” story. Yesterday I experienced the “Two Cardinals & the Robin” story! So here it goes. This has never happened before…I don’t look out the window all the time I’m reading and praying…but at just the time I did….

Same place…same time…in prayer…looking out the window…and here comes two beautiful cardinals…one male…one female. They land together…same time…on the stone bench outside the window. From the bench…he flies down to the ground…picks up something in his mouth…flies back up to the bench…walks right up to her and gives it into her mouth. Together they fly away and I hear HIM say… “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38

If that’s not enough…as soon as they take to flight..here comes the Robin and she flies up to the bench…worm in her mouth…looks at me and she flies away. I hear HIM say “Trust Me!” I began to tear up.

To add to all that…this morning…same place…same time…same situation…here she comes again…the Robin…worm in her mouth…looks at me…flies away. I hear HIM say “ cast all your cares upon me, I care for you!” 1 Peter 5:7 I think I’m getting the message.

Judge for yourself…Am I crazy OR is HE trying to tell me something? I just hope that Robin doesn’t turn to me and start talking out loud!

I wonder if perhaps you have some type of a Robin waiting to express the heart of the Lord to you today! Star looking…Keep listening!

There is refreshment in His presence!

The Robin

I was praying this morning and at the same time mulling over in my mind some financial considerations concerning my business & personal finances. Naturally, the tendency for my thoughts were to drift toward the horrible economy, recession, depression, etc.. I could almost feel the darkness enter into my peaceful time of meditation. I was sitting at a chair facing our large rear window that looks into a forest surrounding a branch of the Corsica River. It also overlooks our stone patio and benches that surround the same. The chair is approximately 10-12’ above the stone wall. The winds were blowing very strongly this AM.

All of a sudden, a relatively young robin flew right in front of me and landed on the stone wall bench with a huge worm dripping out of her mouth. She sat there for almost 15 minutes…never once attempting to eat or swallow that worm…struggling to stand upright in the wind…not taking flight to escape the oppression of the wind. The worm dangled out of her mouth and every once in a while she turned and looked me right square in the eyes…it seemed as if she was smiling behind that tasty treat and appeared to say “Trust Him!”

Then I heard these words… “So I tell you, don’t worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of far more than food and clothing. Look at the ravens.(ROBINS) They don’t need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not! And if worry can’t do little things like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t he more surely care for you? You have so little faith! And don’t worry about food—what to eat and drink. Don’t worry whether God will provide it for you. These things dominate the thoughts of most people, but your Father already knows your needs. He will give you all you need from day to day if you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.” Luke 12: 22

After I sat there for about 15 minutes amazed at the Goodness & Grace of God…I said “Alright, You can Go!” She flew away! Some may wonder concerning the circumstances, BUT I KNOW IT WAS HIM!

Faith comes “by hearing the Word of God.” Are you listening today!
